Your most useful tool...

Post by marvinlee718 » Mon Dec 09, 2013 5:50 am

What is your most useful tool or necessity? It can be Pliers, Snips, Nets, Your Fishfinder, Rod Socks, Scale, Scent, and that's just a few examples... It doesn't need to be a tool,it can be mend-it or scent, ANYTHING that you use to help you in fishing. Mine are Rod socks. I hate those nasty rod tangles you get in your car. ](*,) They help me keep organized and have no hassle. The holidays are coming up and it can be a useful guide to some people. Feel free to post your favorite.

There are two tool I most frequently use. One is a pair of braid scissors, and the other is a small plastic lighter to fuse the tag end of braid to keep it from fraying. The most essential tool I keep handy, however, is a hook remover. That's an item that when I need it, I need it right now. I do use the first two tools often, but I can get by without either.

I have this mini butane powered multi-use torch. It has a soldering, hot cut plastic knife, blow torch, hot air interchangeable tips. Ive repaired many of my soft plastics with it saving me a lot of money being able to re-use the lure over and over. Like Palm Trees/Ikas when they tear just a quick touch with the plastic knife and the tear is sealed good to use again. Getting 10-15+ bass on one Palm Tree is quite the savings.

Corny, but the little Mustad KVD braid cutter/splitring/needle nose pliers combo tool my kids got me for fathers day at Wal-mart has been almost a god send.

My most useful would be needlenose pliers, but a close second would be my boomerang tool. I love the retractable cord. I have one at home hooked to my tackle box holder, and I have one on my fishing pack.

Needle nose for sure. I can manage without the splitting pliers. You get a deep hooked fish its very hard to unhook without the needle nose, sometimes impossible. Although you could use some splitting pliers for this also.

Extra long nosed (dah) needle nose. Can't remember where I got it but the nose is about 50% longer than a standard needle nose. For deep hooks or to stay away from nasty pike teeth, it's great.

Good Revlon stainless steel toenail clippers. A good pair will cut braid and of course fluoro and mono with ease.
While fishing I retie a lot, so a good pair of clippers is in use more than any other tool.
2nd most used tool would be neddlenose pliers.
