Gamakatsu Heavy Cover Worm Hook
Gamakatsu Heavy Cover Worm Hook
This is perhaps old hat, but at my local tackle store I purchased some of these 4/0 hooks--$5.99 for four hooks.
The bait holding barb is a rounded wire loop and the eye of the hook is totally closed (no gap to get line trapped.
Over-all length of the hook is 2" and the inside gape is 3/4 ". I've been using Owner straight shanked wide gap hooks and BMF hooks but like the appearance of this hook as it is shorter in length like the BMF hook.
Not used them yet but would seem to be for me the perfect Sweet Beaver hook for example. They look to be an almost perfect match to my 4/0 BMF hooks

Looks to be a very well made hook... Hard to beat the Gami's or the Owners IMO..

I like those hooks where did you get those? might switch over to those instead of the trokars flipping hooks.

I got then at a local privately owned sporting goods store. They are new this year and starting to show up on the internet tackle suppliers. One place has them for $4.99Somerdink wrote:I like those hooks where did you get those? might switch over to those instead of the trokars flipping hooks.

They look great, but a bit of advice: The heat-shrink tubingt hey use to secure the bait barb will get loose after a few fish. Solution: A tiny drop of crazy glue.
I need to pick up some of these - tired of losing a potential money-fish due to EWG hooks in heavy cover.

Re: Gamakatsu Heavy Cover Worm Hook
Did not pick up that it was heat shrink tubing to hold the barb. That gives the option of removing the barb to snell the hook.

X2 on the crazy glue
I've had these for some time now.. super sharp. Super duper sharp
I used loctite.. I suggest glueing BEFORE use and on both ends..

I've seen them as high as $6.99 a pack.

Thanks for the post. Looking forward to trying these once my stock of BMFs gets depleted.

I picked some up at American Legacy while I was there today. Can't wait to use them.
Re: Gamakatsu Heavy Cover Worm Hook
+3 on the super glue. I tried mine today and the barb spun around after landing just one fish.
There's enough room in there to snell with the baitkeeper. I like the fact that it's a welded eye too.
