The easiest penetrating hooks I have ever seen come from Gamakatsu and VMC. But VMC does not offer the size I use so I have to go with Gamakatsu.

Gammys, with owner being a close second, due to price and availability. I can go down the street and get gammys, but I have to order owners and pay shipping and wait and wait and wait...

Use gammys 90% but I prefer owners, specifically the cutting point style, when I can get/find them.

Mustad KVD Triple Grips
Re: Best hook manufacturer...
used to use VMC's primarily and sometimes Gama's. Now have made the switch to Owner's exclusively. Best hook on the market, hands down.
Re: Best hook manufacturer...
I have been sold on Owners since the first time I tried a Strike Pro lure that had them. During that trip, I reeled in 2 fish that had both sets of trebles in their back. I had never seen that before with the other hooks I had tried. These would have been 2 missed fish with any other hooks. If I do not have them on my lure and I miss a fish, I always think that I would have caught that fish if I changed the hooks; therefore, I now change all of my hooks to Owners before going fishing.
Re: Best hook manufacturer...
I like Owner hooks for worm hooks, the Aki hooks for fishing squid, and the Mutus for tuna fishing. But when it comes to treble hooks I REALLY prefer gammy's. I've had too many Owners break on me.
