Crowley Lake, how and where?

Post by Brookie » Sun May 04, 2003 2:19 pm

Thinking about making a trip to the Eastern Sierras in California
later on in the summer probably June and fishing Crowley.
I have read many stories of this place and would like to experience it first hand. Any tips on what wt. rod I would requires? What flies? Fish from... a rental boat? float tube? and where? How about accomadations around that area?

Thanks!

The fly bite at Lake Crowley is on for anglers fishing the edges of the weed beds that are dying back. Tiny midges or Matuka-type streamers are both working on the trout, which have been running up to 23 inches and weighing over 4-0. Anglers are reminded that Crowley has a two-fish, 18-inch minimum size restriction and single, barbless hooks must be used.

I have a correction to make from Buzz's post.
The 2 trout 18" limit is for the restricted season only.

I found this website very useful.
