Re: threadfin shad & baby perch - my first attempts
Fantastic job!
I know a buddy of mine who uses streamers behind a water bubble and throws them at busting fish during the Fall.
But I can definitely see myself casting these on a fly set up, when the threadfin spawn occurs and the fish gorge for the Winter.

don't cry because it's over...smile because it happened.

Thank You. I am hoping to try them in the Bull Shoals tailwaters in a couple of weeks. Hopefully, it will be cold enough that we will have a shad kill and have the shad flushed down stream through the dam generators . . . when that happens, the fishing is suppose to be incredible

Amazing! Did you use ep for them?
Re: threadfin shad & baby perch - my first attempts
Those look great, nice going! Those will catch fish for SURE. They look like EP fibers? EP fiber is a great material, but if tied too thickly will cause the fly to float, or barely sink at all. Often times I have to do a little trimming on the water to get it right. Also, sometimes longer EP flies foul pretty often since the material doesn't have much stiffness to it. For flies like these, I like to use a different material such as fish hair, ultra hair, supreme hair, etc. Using these materials can often alleviate on the water frustration
Good luck and good tying,
Paul W
