$150 fly rod

I am thinking about buying an 8 weight fly rod for salmon fishing. Which rod would you recommend? One of my friends told me that Echo is pretty good.

Echo's are pretty good. I got one of those Route 37 rods after reading the TT review:

Of course the rod is a little more expensive. But my buddy just picked up a TFO fly rod, and he says its phenomenal for the price.

Hi Gideon,

Thanks for the info.

I think TFO has 3 lines; Series 1 (about $100); Professional (about $150); and a titanium whatever (about $200). Are they all good? Is Series 1 a decent rod? I have spent over $1000 this year on fishing gears. My line of $$$ from my wife is really tight now.

Any of the newly redesigned Lefty Kreh rods are worth looking at. I have test casted a model (forgot which one) but retail was less then 400 dollars, and it was suprisingly good.
