Re: Which Fly Combo?
Welcome onboard the forum.
A 5wt is great for your needs. Any heavier it will not be good
for trout/panfish. And still heavy enough for bass.
I have no experience with the Avid series fly rods, but do own
a 6wt GL3. It's a decent rod, but after I tried my friend's GLX,
I didn't like my GL3 because I like a stiffer/fast action rod
instead of something with a flex to it at the tip. I get more
control when shooting line. GIve more accuracy. But GL3 is
ok. Maybe someone else can give you more info on the Avid rod.
