Swimbait reel

I am looking for a reel to pair with a custom XH LDC rod that I will be getting in a few months. I think I have narrowed it down to a Z2020HL or a 301 15 Conquest Calcutta. I will be throwing swimmers anywhere 2-7 oz so if you have any inputs between the two with pros and cons I would really appreciate it.

They are both great reels. I like lo pro reels because my hands aren't huge. I've never cared for round swimbait reels because of this. I would choose the Z or even a tuned Lexa 300.

I use a Conquest 301 and think it's great, palms nicely for something with so much line capacity. No experience with the Z, sorry.

How's the casting distance on it?

My hands aren't big but I use my 250DC and recently (on accident) my 400D Calcutta. I actually like the rounds for big baits.

400te. Didn't think I would like it at first but was corrected as soon as I used. Love it and the disengaged levelwind makes casting distance easy. Add some abec stainless steel bearings and you'll be in for surprise.

I'd go 400te, the wider spool, and greater capacity will really help with distance. A 7oz lure would be a little toomuch for the Z. I have both, and really appreciated the extra line when I hit a nasty backlash.

I just got a Revo Beast for throwing LC178 and I-Slide lures, wondering if any one has any exp. with it.

I tumble toss 168 wavers fine with a Calcutta 200D 5 speed on a dobyns 764. Like it a lot.

I would not toss anything above 3 oz with the Z. Go with the Calcutta.

Megabass Lin Black Jungle. Normally not a fan of round reels, but this works great throwing the big baits. Easy to adjust between different lure sizes.

I use a Luna 253 and I like it just fine.

The conquest is the last shimano reel that I own, and I use it to throw
the 8 inch hudds. As much as my loyalty has turned to Daiwa over the years,
I don't see any reel replacing my conquest anytime soon.

is a zillion coastal or hlc to small for swimbait in long terms? i believe its still a beast of a reel but not sure how its really going to hold up on a long term basics

I use the Calcutta, just feel confident with that round reel. I have a buddy that loves the revolution beast though.
