I've used the Dobyns 795 ML model and I like it, rated for lures from 1 to 5 ounces.

Dobyns has good customer service as well.

Dobyns 795ML is my most versatile rod and I would always recommend it for the baits you have listed. The 8" Hudd is the only bait that you could do better with using a different rod but the 795 can handle it. I also have a 7'-9" Heartland rod that I use and I actually really like it a lot. I pulled a 7 lber out of a brush pile w that rod last week using a weedless 68. That said, it's definitely softer than the Dobyns. I also have the 7-11" Heavy Okuma that I've only ever used for 8" Hudds but I think it would do a decent job with the smaller baits. It's definitely ballsier than the Heartland and that's kinda what it sounds like you want, ballsier.

The iRods are supposed to be fantastic, I've heard nothing but good about them.

I think more people might tell you that having one rod to do the 6" baits and 8" baits is asking too much but I say that the 795 can do it better than the Okuma 7-11 heavy and the 7-9 Heartland.

ALL that said, that Hudd rod looks SWEET, have fun deciding

Low down custom would be the best choice but that's $ and being your just getting started you CAN not go wrong with a dobyns.

The recommendation of the 795ML is what I would recommend. However, two rods are better than one and you can then split that between fast and slow rods for jig hook style baits such as the stock Hudds and a slow rod for treble style baits. The 795ML is fast and the 806ML being slower would make a great treble bait rod. Can also chuck those 68s well. The butt is longer which I prefer. Hard to find in any bass tactic a one rod do everything right but most can do well enough.

Just wondering if anyone has experience with the megabass black jungle 7'10" punching swimbait rod?

But dobyns make great swimbait rod too.
