I was planning to go with a 8' Low Down Customs Production XH for swimbaits. But I found out that Low Down Customs uses Phenix Saltwater blanks for their production series.
I would rather just buy the blank myself and build my own custom rod since I am already planning on getting into rod building.
I am debating between these 3 blanks:
1. Black Diamond Hybrid PHD-809XH 30-80lb $189
2. Black Diamond PSW-809XH 25-60lb $159
3. Ultra Swimbait Classic USB-800H 15-50lb $189
The heaviest lures/weights I am planning on fishing with this rod is 6-8 oz. Phenix does not list lure ratings for the Black diamond/hybrid series. Which blank would fit my needs best...???
I am leaning towards the black diamond as its the cheaper blank but I don't know if it will handle up to 8oz...??? If it can't...30 bucks more is really not that much so I would rather go with the black diamond hybrid than since its rated to 80lb line.
Anyone using these saltwater blanks/rods for swimbaiting with success...???

I used a Lamiglas 8' XXH Graphite Musky Blank. Works great for 1-8oz which is its lure range. Sweet spot is 2-6oz for sure, but it cant deal all the way through. I dont believe they make them anymore, but any brands Musky blank is worthy of consideration for those weight ranges.

Reading the swimbait forums, the guys throwing Roman Made Mothers build on the PHD-809XH or 869XH.
Those two blanks should handle your weight range
