9" Monster Bull Shad

Post by GARRIGA » Mon Jan 23, 2012 7:26 pm

Just got my new floaters in after Dwain painted them black with scale markings and a blue tint for my night monster forays. Hoping to get out on the Big O this werkend and try it out. As you can see, the 9 dwarfs the 6 considerably.

Boy those look good =D> =D> =D> . Night time bass slayers. How heavy is the 9" model and what are you throwing it on?

Those things look pretty sweet, I'm sure they'll produce. Hard to beat a black topwater at night.

Mike told me the floater is in the five oz range and should be fine on a 795 but I'm going to try it on that and the 806ML. No need to make long casts at night and I tend to lob big baits so either should work fine. If not then an 807 or similar is on the horizon.

I purchased a 9" last spring and have fished with it some. I fish a large TVA impoundment that has LM, SM, large stripers, walleye and various other sun fish.
I have caught quite a few stripers on this bait and some LM also. The largest LM was a 7.5# and the largest striper was a 28.3#.

I fish it on a Shimano Swimbait rod XH 7' 11" with 30# P-Line CXX. The reel is a Ambassedeur 6600D that has been tuned. This bait will catch fish or has for me anyway. I have never fished it at night so I can not tell you as to its effectiveness at night.

Where can you find the floaters? I've only seen the slow sink available.

Contact Mike Bucca and ask. That's how I got mine when they weren't listed.
