I just got another shipment of Various Owner hooks.. These hooks are so sharp.. awesome points on them.. I plane on swapping out all the hooks on the Triple Trouts, Ragos, Kongs, Matt's Woody etc.. I wish I knew about those hyperwire split rings where made by them as well I would have added that to my order..

here is some of the ones I got.. I really couldn't tell what size the stock hooks are on all the above mentioned baits so I purchased a variety to try and match them up..

Awesome Dave! As long as you bought a variety, can you post what the size owners best relate to the original with each bait after you figure them out?

Sure... right before I finish the laundry, dust the house and take out the garbage and right after I go food shopping, make dinner and press the drapes.

Awesome! I know this is for hooks replacement but anything about split rings? The rings on the Punkers seems a little "cheap" for that size bait.

Owner Stingers will always be my most confident hooks for hard swimbaits. :D

#6 Owner Hyper Wire FTW.

For hooks, I have #4 Owners on my 6" injected Punker...with #2s I get too much tangling. I have a #2 on the front of a 5" Punker and a #4 on the back.

I had a 3/0 ST-41 treble on my MS Mini Slammer. It was too large and stayed tangled in the line at front of the bait at least 50% of the time. Went to a 1/0 ST-41 and it works great and as with most all owner hooks sticks the fish and holds them.

Is it a good idea to downsize your hooks when upgrading...???

Pro: More refined action and finesse = More bites
Con: Bad/Less hook up ratio and therefore more lost fish.

How about Upsizing when upgrading...???

Pro: Better hook up ratio.
Con: Less refined action and finesse = Less bites

Or should you go with the same size as what's stock...???

I use Owner without fail. As a general rule, I upsize. Not necessarily hook size, but shank x2 or x3. I adopted this practice over the years after losing one too many of that rare haul. Yes, the weight can hurt, or help, but I really don't care anymore. I set my lures for application and do what I can to make them work. If I can't make one work, I simply don't use it.

I too am a huge Owner fan, the only time I stray is for a BB rigged Hudd. I like to upsize the gauge as well because I use braid w a leader combo for the majority of my SB fishing. As far as split rings go, Hyper Wire is the only real option.....they are the best. THE BEST JERRY! ;)

Only thing i'll add is that lightwire decoys are awesome if you are trying to turn a ss into an xss.

I'm probably "that guy" who really digs in deep when making modifications to swimbaits/big baits (engineers can be that way) but I've gotten away from the Owner trebles and primarily use Mustad triple grip trebles, now that they make them in large enough sizes. To me the cutting point on the owners seems to create a larger hole than the Mustad does, and I lose far fewer fish on the Mustads. But depending on the style/ shape of the bait I will also use Decoy quad hooks or Ryugi twin hooks.
