Bantam A Wrong Handle
Bantam A Wrong Handle
So I ordered a USDM handle from Shimano, for the HG version of the Bantam. I had asked on here a while back what the sizes were and was pretty sure I was universally told that the HG version had a 90mm handle and the XG had a 96mm. This is what at least I thought people said or maybe I am lost. Either way I got shipped an 84mm. I didn't know the US models even had 84mm handles. I am glad to put in the time to fix this, just gotta find out how is the best way to go for a return. Any input would be appreciated, and to anyone with the Bantam A 6.2 or 7.1, does your reel have an 84mm handle (US version)???

Re: Bantam A Wrong Handle
Man I feel so dumb now. I swore I had asked a while back and thought that was just the JDM models. I know my Chronarch MGL had a 90mm (7.1) and the HG model had a 96mm. I am not sure what to do now, the 90mm version of the Bantam A is sold out until December...

Re: Bantam A Wrong Handle
I don't have the new Bantam A XG model, but the old MGL XG has 90 mm handles.
slip bobbing is the laziest way to fish

Re: Bantam A Wrong Handle
Thanks again. I don't know how I got it in my head that the US models had done away with the 84mm. I run one on the Conquest fine though, so the Bantam will be okay too until I return this one and find a viable replacement. Would be okay with buying a different Shimano handle as long as the silver lock plate will fit in the handle.tdm wrote: ↑Tue Aug 15, 2023 10:22 pmI'm speaking from experience since I've bought quite a few 18 and 22 Bantam XG handle assembly from Shimano. Did just find out that I could get a Metanium B XG handle, is about $12 higher, but is in stock. Now I just need confirmation that the Bantam lock plate will work with that handle or should I just order a Metanium lock plate to be safe?
Re: Bantam A Wrong Handle
18 Bantam XG handle assembly are in stock if you don't mind the dark bronze color and with 2 bearings total, 20 Metanium 6 and 7 gear handle is slightly smaller and swept a little different than the one for Bantam XG but just by a little you will not notice until you place both handles side by side, Metanium handles also comes with 4 total bearings. All of the mentioned 90MM handles come with knobs that can be found on most shimano reels like the Curado K, 150MGL, SLX, M..etc.DirtyD64 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 16, 2023 2:27 amThanks again. I'm pretty sure the 22 Bantam silver nut plate and screw will fit the 20 Metanium handle, I have both and can verify it for you if you don't mind waiting until this evening?

Re: Bantam A Wrong Handle
Thanks so much. Have just been busy at work, plan to call Shimano and start the return/swap tonight. The Metanium XG handle is a bit higher, so I should be able to pay the difference. I thought the mix you tried would work, I think that is what the Metanium Shallow Edition runs.tdm wrote: ↑Wed Aug 16, 2023 5:21 pmI can confirm to you that the 22 Bantam handle nut plate and screw will fit the 20 Metanium handle.tdm wrote: ↑Wed Aug 16, 2023 5:23 am18 Bantam XG handle assembly are in stock if you don't mind the dark bronze color and with 2 bearings total, 20 Metanium 6 and 7 gear handle is slightly smaller and swept a little different than the one for Bantam XG but just by a little you will not notice until you place both handles side by side, Metanium handles also comes with 4 total bearings. Re: Bantam A Wrong Handle
No problem Dude! I'm sure Shimano will hook you up, I just got my 20 Metanium HG USDM handle assembly today for my JDM 23 Metanium 101HG which came with 84mm handle. Now it looks identical to my 20 USDM Metanium!DirtyD64 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 18, 2023 2:49 amThanks so much. Have just been busy at work, plan to call Shimano and start the return/swap tonight. Yes, looks like the Metanium Shallow Edition has the 22 Bantam nut caps and a different knob.
