Issue with curado k

Post by Bronzebak85 » Tue Jul 23, 2019 9:59 pm

Ok so now that i have cooled down after experiencing major issues with the clutch bar on my curado k xg earlier tonight, I am ready to find a solution. The problem I’m having is that the clutch disengages during the cast as soon as i commence launching the lure. It has progressively gotten worse in the 5 times I’ve used the reel. Not only is it obviously bad for my rod, reel, and leader knot when this happens, it’s down right terrifying having a walking bait covered in trebles shooting back at my face at 100 mph. Aside from total breakdown of the reel, i can see nothing wrong or different about the thumb bar assembly when compared to my other Curado k.
How can I remedy this?

Have you looked at that spring?

I could imagine that the instant clutch engagement during a cast could also do some damage to other associated drive line part's...

I have not considered this but i bet that spring has something to do with the problem. The clutch just seems very easy to engage.

It could be a few different issues. It could be the clutch pawl is not in the track correctly, it could be the clutch cam is not installed correctly, it could be the yoke...

Also check to make sure the clutch button is not touching your reel seat on the rod. It could be preventing the button from going all the way down so the clutch is not really disengaged 100%.

I would suggest that route. This way we can evaluate and repair it. Our repair form is at the bottom of this page.
