What is the difference in the 200B and the 200GTB? Thanks. This is for bass fishing.

I did just notice that the GTB has 7 bearings and after counting 2 on the spool, one on the Xship, one on the drive shaft, and the pinion bearing, I guess it is 2 in the handle. Where are the 200B bearings after 2 on the spool and a pinion bearing?

There is no X-Ship or Super Free on the Calcutta B or GTB models. There are 2 bearings for the spool, 1 on the spool, anti reverse bearing, 4 in the handle (GT only). The 200/201B model does not have bearings in the handle.

Just got back to this and thank you Dan. Our grandson has been fishing with Curado 50E's and has the hots for a Calcutta for some reason. We will see. Personally I think it is a mistake, but they are incredible reels.

The Calcutta is a very durable reel. If he plans to use this for cranking, spinnerbaits, small swimbaits, etc he will not be disappointed. The first Calcutta models came around 1991-92. There hasn't been many changes to the design over the years. I think it is a very proven product. The only negative of the reel is the weight, but with a machined aluminum reel there will be more weight.

Oh, no question on the Calcutta's quality, I wonder how he will adapt to the change since it sure is different from the Curado 50E size and he thinks my Chronarchs are large.
