Disturbing discovery - Poison Adrena 7'4" Heavy

Post by cumara » Fri Aug 03, 2018 8:09 am

Just noticed what looks like air voids or clear coat cracking? on my beloved Adrena 7'4" pitch/flip. It is only on the side opposite the guides, and spans from just above the 3rd guide from the bottom almost up to the tip.

If it had been lying in a damp rod locker the dampness can get into the clearcoat. It usually dries out when taken out of the locker though and should go back to normal.

Rod has not been stored in the boat or anywhere else near moisture, and has looked this way for weeks with no change.

I've had a Majorcraft rod do the same thing. It only gets worse, I'm afraid.
Try not to let your mind wander. It is much too small to be outside unsupervised.

It's hard to tell what is going on from your picture. It doesn't look like there is anything wrong with the blank. There could be moisture under the clear coat or it could be physical wear. You have the option to send the rod in for warranty evaluation, but we no longer have the Poison Adrena rods available for replacement.

Thank you for your response! To me it looks more like air voids under the clear coat than moisture, and the rod has been well taken care of. Out of curiosity, what would replacement option be with no Adrenas available?

I'm not 100% sure. I think they have been offering MSRP credit. I do not see any model listed in our system for use as a replacement in warranty situations. The rods were covered by a one year warranty, so a receipt will be required for all warranty claims.

Thank you very much for the information. One of my favorite rods so I guess I'll keep fishing it for now. I ordered it from TW and have the receipt.

I'll keep a eye on my 7'4 Poison so far have not seen this on any Poison Adrenas. I'm fishing all week next week will inspect them in the light a little more, my NRX's did this quite bad. They still bend hard just had those bubbles all over them.

It sounds like it's just the clear coat on the blank that's the problem, not anything structural.
Once I pick up a rod to make a cast, I never look at it again until I lay it back down, so it wouldn't be a problem for me.

was going to say, at least five of my NRX's look like that.

don't seem to affect the rod in any way.
