Re: 2018 Curado DC (Merged Topic)
Looks like I'll be ordering a scorpion DC as a prequel to this curado DC
Re: 2018 Curado DC (Merged Topic)
I am assuming the Curado DC follows the same handle rules as the regular Curado K??? Meaning that the XG has the 96mm and the HG and 6.2 have the 90mm???
Re: 2018 Curado DC (Merged Topic)
Yes that is correct.

I think Cal was happy with the DC, then a little sad when I took it with me when I left

Can't wait to see the ICast post Bantam, new 200 Tranx, Aldebaran MGL, Metanium DC new Tekota's lot's of cool releases! Curado doesn't get me going the DC the regular Curado K is almost thumbless in casting, DC is fun tho love my Exsence DC from Japan.

Is the Metanium DC a release of the older JDM model or does it have the extra bearing and some features from the current US Metanium MGL. There were rumors the spool was different, I just wasn't sure and it looked very close to the original JDM Metanium DC (which is still a top tier reel, regardless).
Re: 2018 Curado DC (Merged Topic)
I just saw a spool weight figure for this reel for the first time, and it's a shocker: 20.6 grams!
If that is accurate, it would suggest that many other reels might be able to outcast this with lures weighing less than 3/8 oz. (I wrote "suggest" because I recognize that there are other factors than setting the spool in motion that affect casting.)
The figure was posted by youtuber "JC Dropshot" in response to a viewer inquiry about the weight of the spool without line: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gcO--UCqVmM. The site host used a 1/2 oz. weight in his casting test.

Not really shocking, DC spools have always been heavier than normal spools, and have never been thought of being any type of finesse reels. More along the lines of power fishing and making long casts that cover a lot of water. Stick to the non DC reels if you want to throw lighter stuff.Bronzeye wrote:I just saw a spool weight figure for this reel for the first time, and it's a shocker: 20.6 grams!

What is the spool weight in DC model? I see reports saying it is around 20 gm and it looks too heavy?
My primary focus would be 3/8 to 1/2 oz total weight for pitching plastic with 16-20 lb flouro, will I be better off getting regular Curado or Chronarch?

Re: 2018 Curado DC (Merged Topic)
Pitching, in general, is a lower speed bait presentation and not heavily reliant upon brakes. However, if you like to skip in between pitches and flips, then the Curado DC would be an excellent choice. Mode 4 is designed with skipping presentations in mind.PBP wrote:My primary focus would be 3/8 to 1/2 oz total weight for pitching plastic with 16-20 lb flouro, will I be better off getting regular Curado or Chronarch?

Re: 2018 Curado DC (Merged Topic)
The reason for the additional weight is because of the magnet on the spool. Since it is small and near the spool shaft, it has virtually no affect on the startup inertia. The weight is inboard. That is normal for all of our DC reels.
