Post by maibinenu » Wed Feb 21, 2018 4:54 am

HI

I have a Shimano Stella 2500 FB ( 2004 model, japan equivalence 2500 SR) and the rotor breake up in a hookset and must be replaced.
Unfortunately the model is not any more in production.
Is there any possibility ti buy a the rotor spare part?

Thanks,

How did the rotor break on a hookset? Was your anti reverse turned off?

I can honestly say I have never seen a rotor break from anything other than being run over by a vehicle or falling from a decent height.

Yes , its mind blowing speaking by a Stella ....and if it was not happening to me i wouldn't believe it.
the reverse was turned off as usual and after a hook set the rotor just broke up in pieces falling down on the bottom of the boat.
I have two identical reels for years, just one had this problem.

The rotor spinning at high RPM in reverse can cause them to break. So for example your anti reverse is off and you try to set the hook. The rotor spins backwards and then fails. The rotors are designed to rotate in one direction for the most part. This is more than likely what happened. It is very rare and I have only seen it happen on reels with the A/R switched off.

We no longer have parts for the FB models. I will ask our Stella tech if he has a good used one in hiding.

He has one but there is some slight bubbling from corrosion damage and normal body rash from use. That is the only one he has.

PM me with your details. I start traveling tomorrow so there may be a week delay before I can get it out. This all depends when you get your info to me.
