Why is the Symetre out of the spinning reel line up? They were great reels. Will that line make a come back someday?

Depending on what model your referring to also. The Saros over here which was one up on the Symetre at one stage but shared 90% of parts and design was a great reel - then stuffed around by shimano and now dropped all together...

The Nasci took the place of Symetre. In the global line the Nasci was the same model as Symetre. They decided to drop the Symetre name and go with Nasci.

Symetre sounds much better...

Ultegra was the global equivalent of Saros and replaced the Saros last year. Since everything has gone global there will be name changes on products. Like Core to Aldebaran, Core to Metanium, Calais to Antares for example.

Seems to he a fad where iconic brand names are dropped for others - lone behold a good number of years later...

"Look who's back" - seen this a few times so far in a few brands.

Some markets need to have iconic brand names held to keep lineages going, Core and Aldarbaren to me yeh understanding their similarity but name and looks are far off - should keep market centric brands rather than just one global marketing scheme.

Here in Aus were now just getting 'JDM' reels in our AUDM cattle dog, its a mix of locally known reels and a peppering of new unknown reels that more than anything confuse people on their next purchase.

I have the newest version of the Symetre, its a okay reel.

I had a FI back in the day and it way way better then the newer version IMO.

The reason is to streamline production. When you are using the same tooling to make similar models for several markets, it becomes challenging. Spare parts support, different production lines, etc. The decision was made to create global products. The naming went to which market had the strongest sales for the models. Yes there are some exceptions like Scorpion and Curado.

It is not a marketing gimmick to drop names and bring them back. I guess you can argue that with Bantam, but that name and reel series has been gone for a while now.
