Aside of all joking, have you seen those cheap-o internet companies that stuff like 5 bearings into each knob??? Pushes the reel's count to like 15, most non mechanical people don't realize that leaves the actual reel lacking. I mentioned before, many friends have been confused as to why their Lew's or Abu with 10-12 bearings feels nothing like a 7 bearing Curado, or better yet my trusty ole Stradic Ci4+FA...

copycat site on youtube took apart one reel that the tiny box schematic (yes had a schematic printed on box top) showed like 5 per knob, possible it was just 3 though and the two outside ones are bushings.

So funny to me that they know what people look for and use it against them to sell. Be just like a company marketing brass gears that had like a brass shaft with a zinc gear/teeth...

Some people equate the number of bearings to smoothness and performance of a reel. We (Shimano) know this is not true. There are several things that contribute to smoothness, light rotation and durability without the use of several bearings. The general public has slowly started to figure it out.

I have opened reels from some of these oddball companies. One that happens to have a name close to ours with a very similar font...well lets just say it was laughable. We have had a few reels sent to us by unsuspecting customers. When you see bearings of the wrong dimensions for a drive shaft that allows it to wobble like crazy, or the fact that the reel said it had 15 bearings but in reality it had 7. Gimmicks and zero innovation lead to things like this.

In the 1800's we had elixirs, in the early 1900's there were crazy exercise machines and weight loss scams. The saying that there is a sucker born every minute is true and companies or people try to capitalize on it.

So now that all our new Shimano's are almost here, any clue on what is to come later this year???

You will have to wait until ICAST. There could be some product leaks before ICAST this year. Something I think everyone will be happy with :D

Is the mgl a concern for saltwater? I think Sustain uses it and that is a saltwater reel.

Also, let me reiterate.. I really want we see a big range of these bantams.
Sizes..70, 150, 200, 300, 400
With x protect for saltwater usage. These could become the standard saltwater reel merging curado, chronarch, calcutta, trinidad, etc.
