shimano Sustain FI vs Twinpower XD

Post by floriduhfish » Wed Oct 04, 2017 5:57 pm

Hi is there much of a difference in the sealing or anything else between these two reels. Looking for a reel to wade with that will get submerged in saltwater. Thanks

I don’t think you will notice much of a difference between the two for corrosion resistance. Neither is made to spend too much time underwater and you are going to have to be really on top of your maintenance post trip to keep them running smoothly.

They both are using the latest version of Core Protect. With that being said, the reels are designed to repel water from splash and spray. They are not intended to be submerged. If they are submerged, the reels will need to be opened and cleaned.

I just picked up a TP XD C5000XG, but won't be reeling/dunking it in saltwater...
