Charge for warranty labor?

Post by Kurt L » Tue Aug 08, 2017 12:03 am

I just received my Met. MGL in the mail today and also received an invoice for $25.00 labor? the parts were warrantied but not the labor, FWIW; My MGL is a JDM model is this why?
The reel is new and has only been used about 15 minutes due to rough gears I switched it out with a Curado, I lubed it with Ace #2 when I got home to see if that would help but it didn't so I sent it in for warranty...
I'm ok paying the $25.00 because I would not have kept the reel if it stayed the way it was, but if this something new... it will have an effect on my 2018 orders.

Thanks, Kurt

Is a 'opened' reel still covered under warranty?

I know here once a reel has been tampered with (opened up by self or other) its considered 'void' & any works further are considered on the customers responsibility.

I have a feeling that this'll clear up once you've brought it up.

JDM model reels are not covered under warranty in the US. This is not a new policy.

Its quite well known that JDM Shimanos arent covered under USA warranty. I say you are lucky they covered the parts. WTG Shimano =D> for going above what they needed to.
