6 + 1 bearings

So..
2 - for spool bearings
2 - for the x-ship
1 - Main Shaft

1 - ??? - where will be the 6th bearing installed

+1 - roller bearing

SUS (Steel Use Stainless) is the acronym for stainless steel.

The spool is different than the I. The casting performance improvement comes from the new SVS system. I have not weighed the spools, but I'm sure they are similar in weight.

The reel size has been reduced 10% in both length and width over the previous I model.

I haven't opened one and have not looked at the schematics (waiting on the updated pdf version). I assume its above the roller bearing, or on the worm shaft.

Whenever you get that puppy opened up, let us know what the worm shaft and pawl are made of. I promise not to bust your balls on it if they are plastic :D

Same as Chronarch MGL vs Ci4+, its an extra bearing on the main shaft for added smoothness. Maybe it has something to do with Micro Module gears vs regular gears. Maybe we will get a new 70 version of this reel too, there's already a 70 size with Micro Module overseas, right???

Worm shaft is plastic like the Curado 70.

The bearing is not just for smoothness, it is for precision alignment of the drive shaft more than anything. The MicroModule gears require precise tolerances. In Conquest for example, the tolerance is .0001"/.002 mm. With this exact tolerance needed, a bearing must be used.

The MM gear teeth in Curado are not as small as the Conquest and Antares. There is more room for tolerance and this is why we were able to use Ci4+ sideplates and other materials. With reels like the Conquest and Antares, they have to be metal that is machined to exact specs. Otherwise there would be gear issues.

Another side note. I forgot to add the XG model has a 95mm handle. I will update my original post.

I have never heard a report of the plastic worm shaft being an issue, as a matter of fact, it seems to me the pawl seems to go before the shaft has issues most of the time. I am assuming the Metanium/Chronarch have the same size teeth as the Curado? Or are there 3 different sizes of Micro Module gearing?

There seems to be 2 different "official" micro module gear teeth sizes, the very smallest teeth are reserved for the highest end reels like the Antares and Conquest lines, but ive noticed that the latest Shimanos seem to have smaller gear teeth that competitors anyway

It has to be true, if you search Shimano Micro Module on google, a picture of a Conquest's gears come up, they are unreal tiny. Now if you keep looking and see others, especially a recent picture I saw comparing the Curado I's vs Curado K's teeth, they aren't that much different. Still a major improvement, but not as drastically different as say a Casitas vs a Conquest.

Thanx bro.

So all bearings are accounted for. Best guess that the knobs or maybe the level wind worm gear also will be using bushings...will those be replaceable by a bearing like in the curado 70 ?
Can't wait for this reel.

I would bet money that you can add two 4x7x2.5's to each handle knob, and one to the levelwind. Think Shimano and Daiwa both use that size handle bushing/bearing for a little while now. I think some models from either brand take 2 levelwind bearings and others only take one...
