JDM Casitas spool?

Is the MGL light spool from the JDM Casitas available as a part? Will it work in a domestic Casitas? Looking to tame my Casitas for better use with light hard-baits in the 1/4 ounce to 3/8 ounce range and a lighter, shallower spool seems like a good upgrade. TIA

plat may be able to get one for you. It should drop right in. Not sure if its shallower though. For that weight range Id leave all 4 brakes activated and just use the outer dial.

When I personaly compare price of an extra spool vs price of a reel I often prefer to put my money on another dedicated combo to play with. :talk hand:

I'm not sure if the MGL spool will be a drop in unit. The reels like Metanium MGL for example have a different frame and other changes to accept and make use of the new spool design. I will send an email to my contact in Japan and see if I can get you an answer.

He said it is just a spool swap. The JDM spool is a 100 size where the US version is a 150.

I was interested in this spare spool for my Casitas until I saw the price on Hedgehogs website. $97! That's nearly the price of a new Casitas! Might as well just buy the jdm reel on ebay.
