How do you make a 3000 a 2500?

For Shimano spinning reels where the spools are interchangeable between the 2500 and 3000 versions (e.g. Saros, Stradic, Symetre, etc.), what else besides the spool and handle would I need to change out in order to turn a 3000 into a 2500? If I slap a 2500 spool and a 2500 handle on a 3000 body, have I essentially just made a stock 2500?

Yes that is usually all that you will need. Some models do have a different drag knob. I would have to look it up for each reel.

Probably the ROTOR assembly, SPOOL, and HANDLE . . .
