Jackall Adrena PA1610M

Post by reelblues » Wed Mar 18, 2015 1:26 am

HI,
I bought a PA1610M rod (not glass) off the internet for cranks and jerkbaits. I received the rod and it is beautiful and so light, but it feels a little stiff to fish moving lures. The ads say the rods are technique specific, so I was wondering if this rod was made for moving baits? I feel like I bought the wrong model, so before I fished it I was trying to get some info.
Thanks
Ron

This rod is designed for moving \ reaction baits. Should be fine if you are using 3/8oz and up. cranks, jerkbaits, and top water would be my uses.

The stiffness is an illusion because of how the rods are built. They are very crisp and responsive, but have a lot of give once they are loaded.

I used this rod for a little while and it was a little to much power for the lighter jerkbaits I like to throw. As Bantam stated, once hooked up it had a very nice deep flex to it. This would be a good rod for Pointer 100, Vision 110; most of you're heavier jerks. Also good for square bills and medium diving cranks. I switched to the 6'6" ML and it is closer to what I am use to as a medium power, but a little shorter than I like. It's perfect for Pointer 78/95 and Xrap 08. Wanting to try the 6'10" ML now for some extra length.

I first bought the PA166M but later traded it for the PA1610M and the first thing I noticed was the stiffness you describe, especially for a medium power rod. The PA166M felt like a true medium power but the PA1610M felt like a lower rated MH. However, after my first trip on the water with the PA1610M I love the rod. The tip section is crisp but loads easily even with 1/4oz. inline spinners and the casts are smooth with great distance for a 6'10" rod using my Metanium. As Bantam1 has said, the stiffness is deceiving.

It's perfect for the Squad Minnow 95, DD Squirrel 79, Pointer 100, Vision 110 etc.

I'm excited about getting mine on the water. Water just opened so I want to throw a rattle trap on mine to see how it goes

My go to rod last year for 110s, 1/2 oz traps and 3/8 FB jigs. Also a great square bill rod. SO versatile that I wish I had a second. The parabolic bend when hooked up is ideal for fighting the big smallies I like to target

Glad to hear all the good reports. I was looking for a really nice jerk bait rod and this looks like I found it. I can't believe how light the rod feels. I haven't put a reel on yet, but the rod is light as air. Usually I jerk a while and rest, but this rod feels like it will be very easy to fish. Can't wait to try her out!
