Curado drag washer differences

Post by arrowslinger1 » Tue Mar 19, 2013 9:20 am

I have several curado 200e7's, I have one curado 200e5, the curado e5 has a much larger drag washer - why is this?
It would be the one that sits inside of the main gear.

Something to do with the lower ratio having more tourque when turning the handle but when the line pulls the drag the lower gear ratio makes it easier for the fish to turn the gears. Easy to reel easy to strip drag its just the same gear going backward. The bigger washer applies more force to offset.

It has more to do with the difference in the size of the gears than anything.

It is simply due to the gear size and that relates to the overall surface area for the drag washer. This way they all have the same drag pressure no matter what the gear ratio is.
