Hey Bantam
How much or what difference could or would I see if I swap out the standard spool from my Curado 100D with a spool from a CH50MG???
Thank you

CH50MG spool
Re: CH50MG spool
More line and a heavier spool, equals more casting distance. I have 2 100D spools and 4 50MG's and swap depending on conditions. I have 10lb mono on the 100D spools and 20lb Sufix braid on the 50MG spools. You will want to slow the spools down before the first cast of the heavier spool.
I use braid most of the time and do not have any comparison distance numbers.

Re: CH50MG spool
Only if the lure has the weight to get the spool spinning easily; then, inertia can keep pushing the line off for a longer time with a heavier spool.fishsmart wrote:More line and a heavier spool, equals more casting distance.
With lighter lures, a lighter spool starts more easily and casts farther.
Re: CH50MG spool
It all depends on what you are trying to accomplish. If you are looking to cast lighter lures then the 50MG spool may give you a slight edge.
Re: CH50MG spool
Hey Bantam1
Would the only advantage to installing the 50MG spool be to improve casting of lighter lures? Line capacity is not an issue; I just wanted to improve overall performance of my CU100D's.
Seeing as though the 50MG's are increasingly harder to find especially up here in Canada I was looking to tune my 100D with upgraded drag, orange seal bearings and the 50MG spool. But if the main advantage is primarily casting lighter baits I don't think this upgrade will serve me very well...
Thanks Mike D
