For those who have - curado 50 drag star upgrade?
What parts does it take to put the cruado e7 200 drag star on the curado 50? Is it just the star and the nut or do I need the spring as well? Any issues when it's installed? Same drag pressure and all?
Thanks!
Thanks!

I'm not sure if it fits or works correctly because I have not tried it. I know the Core 50 parts will work, but they do not match.

Star, Nut, and Spring.
See the differences in the Nut and Springs
200E on left, 50E on right

Just a thought but since u already have to order a nut use the aluminum drag nut from a Chronarch D7 (BNT3014). Saves a lil weight if your into dieting your reels any chance you get ... or maybe im too picky ?
The E7 and D7 share the same star drag (BNT3908) and star drag spring (BNT2125). When all together using the D7 drag assy on the 50e works perfectly...

The only problem I see is the drive shaft lengths are different. You may lose some drag range by using the thicker square nut on the 50E.
Re: For those who have - curado 50 drag star upgrade?
I agree with you Bantam... the range is on the loose end. Its very minimal difference at best. When the star drag is loosened all the way it leaves a slight preasure on drag but not even enough drag to reengauge thumb bar. Instaed of just going to a totally relaxed drag with no preasure.
I did notice though that the stock brass 50e nut is closer to the thickness of the one of the D7. I now wonder if the shorter spring the 50e comes with used with the D7 nut will put everything back to stock prospective if ones worried about that little friction left on washers when all the way backed off. The shorter spring can be used on the D7 nut since there is no grove cut in the aluminum nut and is flat so it doesnt have to accomidate a set spring diameter as the brass ones are diameter specific as well. I have used this nut on my E7's and E5's as well with same result when drag is all the way loose.
I dont think any one weight savings componet is noticeable but when you change out several componets and add them all up especially when changing out brass for aluminum ... its nice!

The problem is that the spring doesn't match the inside track of the stardrag eventhough you can put the different stardrag on. It will work, but only for the person who makes the switch to decide if it's a fit tolerance issue.

I just got home from work and took mine apart and dropped the smaller diameter sping in and you are correct. Does not match. The larger springs fits in the star drag correctly so poped it back in with the D7 nut. The things we do to tinker ...

Thanks for all the info guys, I tried to order two stars (20 bucks a pop) but they are out until at least july.

Curado 200E7.....$179 w/aluminum drag star
Curado 50E........$199 w/plastic drag star. Smaller reel=less material needed.
I own several of these reels, but I have always wondered why the difference in price. I feel the 50 size should be equal or LOWER in price. My guess is that it comes down to the 200 size being produced in much higher quantities, resulting in lower per unit cost. Anyone else have a theory?

i agree with your last statement skunked.....shimano probably sells the 200e 10 to 1 compared to the 50e.
