Will Shimano Ever Sell Acid Wrapped Rods
I'm curious as to whether Shimano will ever have plans to sell acid wrapped rods.
Re: Will Shimano Ever Sell Acid Wrapped Rods
From the forum rules sticky above:
i.e. Bantam1 nor anyone else from Shimano will not discuss future plans.Bantam1 wrote:6) Loose lips sink ships. I will not tell you about upcoming products until it is time to do so. My boat doesn't leak and I will not leak any info that I am not supposed to no matter how hard you beg or pry. I do accept bribes in blonde, brunette...

Hey: that is a double-negative, sir. You are going to confuse the poor guy!Cal wrote:nor anyone else from Shimano will not discuss future plans.
Sorry, I had to do it. Your wording reminded me of a favorite skit on an old TV show.
Having said that, please don't punish me too severely.

Re: Will Shimano Ever Sell Acid Wrapped Rods
Having acid wrapped rods will be a great benifit to shimano because there is a population of people that will be interested in those types of rods and no other manufacture makes them.
There will virtually no competition....
A win win situation for any mft who builds the rods 1st.
Preferably a rod for salmon stealhead rod, simular to their clarus. in a 10' range.

I think he mean this one:
spiral rod
spiral rod is like left-handed reel, radical concept. Just poor sales results

Re: Will Shimano Ever Sell Acid Wrapped Rods
There's a fishing show host there (down under) named Bushy and I've seen him use spiral-wrapped rods. It seems his spiral-wrapped rods have lower power than his partner's although they are catching the same kind of fish. Don't know if his rods are Shimanos but their reels appear to be.
Re: Will Shimano Ever Sell Acid Wrapped Rods
Could someone explain to me what's the difference between spiral wrapped rod (I know what that is) and acid wrapped rod???

Re: Will Shimano Ever Sell Acid Wrapped Rods
Same-same, I think. From the story I once found on the internet , the first time a spiral-wrap rod was made, other people jokingly said that they guy who did it must have been on acid (some kind of drug, i guess) hence the name.
