Cardiff screeching?

Post by bigfish2 » Thu Jul 26, 2007 1:11 pm

I've been using the cardiff 301 for swimbaiting and the other night I was tossing a big wake bait. The first second of the casts a are fine but then all of a sudden I hear a very loud screeching noise and the bait fails to continue though the air...resistance increases and the screech winds down stopping the bait. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance

Check the VBS weights to see if they are not dry. Add a drop of oil to a q-tip and run it around th ebreak case ring. This should allow th ebreaks to slide freely again and eliminate your noise. If this does not repair the reel then there is something wrong with the clutch.

oil Dramatically improved it but it still has a constant lower pitched zing through the cast. Anyway I'll probably take it in to the shop, thanks for your help!
