New products-Part 1

Post by Bantam1 » Tue Jul 10, 2007 9:58 am

OK TT did a great job of taking pics of some of the new products so I will not post pics of the CORE or Stella FD. If you guys want them then just ask and I will post them on here. We have a ton of new products this year so this post might be in 2 parts. I will include as much technical data as I can for you junkies out there.

You guys have seen the CORE and some of you descrambled the pics early. Yes the CORE is a new Mg reel based on the MG7 from Japan. We do offer the FV (Flipping Version) that Japan does not offer. Our standard CORE will have a 6.2:1 gear ratio, 5 bearings (no bearings in the handles like the MG7) and weighs 6.1 ounces. The FV version has a 7:1 gear ratio and the Instagage system for use when flipping. We shaped the bar to be much easier to use and allow more access to the spool to clear backlashes should it happen. The FV version is slightly heavier due to the brass gear design (for use with heavier line). It tips the scales at 6.7 ounces. The CORE is also approved for use in salt water. MSRP will be $349.99 and $379.99 for the FV version.

The most technological advancements came in the spinning reel world this year. We have a new Stella FD, Sustain FI, Stradic MGFB, Stradic FI and the Saros. All of these reels will feature our Propulsion line management and Paladin Gear Durability Enhancements. All but the Saros reel will feature our Areowrap 2 oscillation system I will go into these features more later.

The Paladin gears are a result of several years of testing, simulations and experimentation with materials and machining processes. This system was developed to make the gears last longer and retain the "Out of the box" smoothness that we are famous for. We found that Cold Forged aluminum main gear and special hardened brass pinion gear were stronger and more durable than all stainless gearing. The end result is a stronger gear that lasts longer and stays smoother longer.

The Propulsion Line Management system is composed of 5 features.
1) Propulsion Spool Lip (See pic below)
2) SR One piece bail wire (Same as Stella FB)
3) Power Roller III
4) Redesigned Bail Trip (Easy to trip no matter the position)
5) S-Arm Cam

Here is the Propulsion Spool:

Here is an image of the line coming off of the spool:

The line flows off of the spool much tighter than with conventional spool designs. It pretty much goes right into the stripper guide to allow for longer casts and less wind knots and line twist. This in my eyes is the single greatest improvement in spinning technology in a long time. This combined with the other 4 features I listed creates an almost perfect design that eliminates most problems inherent with spinning reels.

Here is the new Stella FD:

Here are the sizes available and MSRP:

Stella FD (1000,2500,3000,4000) $599.99-699.99
Sustain FE (1000,2500,3000,4000,5000,6000,8000) $249.99-299.99
Stradic MGFB (1000,2500,3000) $229.99 (Salt water approved)
Stradic FI (1000,2500,3000,4000,5000,6000,8000) $149.99-199.99
Saros (1000,2500,3000,4000) $129.99

There is a lot more specs to list that I will answer on an as needed basis. I am not trying to sell you guys anything here so I want to keep the sales pitch to a minimum. I want to show you the new products and features. If you have further questions then please feel free to ask.

The Cumara rods have been pretty much covered by the TT report of El Salto. The MSRP will be $199.99-219.99. They feature Fuji SiC guides, EVA split grip design, custom reel seats (Spinning and Casting) IM-10 construction, custom hook keepers and precise actions and lengths. The rods are light and crisp with lots of power. I have some pictures of the reel seat on both spinning and casting but I think you can see them in the TT review.

I'm not sure how many pics I can post on one thread so part 2 will feature the salt water reels and gear.

Pretty cool stuff...it's wierd to see a different color Stradic other than the old white standby. Nice write-up and thank you.

We're never going to see a 500 sized UL spinner are we? I guess the 1000s are as UL as Shimano is going to get in the Stella and/or Sustain line?

Thank you for all the info man. Do you know if both models of the Core will be available in left-hand, and if so, will they be introduce at the same time as the rights?

Can you expound on what the issues were with the early releases of the Stella FD models?

No leftys right now, maybe next year.

What early release issues are you speaking of with the Stella? It will be available later this month.

Are the standard Calais reels going to stay in the lineup (100A, 200A, etc.)? With the price of the Core being so close, I wonder if they will improve on these existing Calais models.

Oh. Oh my.

Oh I get it, this is brilliant. Work out all the kinks with them right-hand reels, and then perfect it when you release the lefty. :D

Seriously, cool stuff and thanks for taking the time to post everything.

Looks like im going back to Japan for my MG LEFTY WITH BEARINGS! :x  The spinning reels look sweet though, but how does the saros compare to the previous stradic? The stradic was 119 and now it jumped to 149.95? :?

Non-white-coloured Stradic! Madness!

Bantam, it safe to assume there's no lefty core for at least the time being? And any chance you can post them additional pics of the Cumara? Thanks!
