Re: New products-Part 1
Thanks for shedding some light on the new Shimano products. More pictures on the latest Core would be nice
Re: New products-Part 1
These rods have me interested...is there at least one in the line-up that isn't split grip?

Nope. They all have the split grip to reduce weight.bryfmd wrote:These rods have me interested...is there at least one in the line-up that isn't split grip?

Bantam,
Thanks for posting those Core pics. Looks like this is one of those "must own" reels. Am glad that the flipping version features a brass main gear. btw, when will the Cores be on sale
Was wondering if you have any Core bass rod pictures to post? So far, from the El-Salto review, we've only seen the butt and some shots of the reelseat of that rod.

Bantam1,
The new spinning reels look great!!! Might make me change from my beloved Twinpower Mg 1000 to a Sustain 1000. Can you provide weights on the new reels. Also does the Sustain and Stradic have the SR type handle that threads into the gearing like the Stella FB. And any idea of when the major retail stores might have them for sale.

Re: New products-Part 1
And the Saros is in at $129.99. Sounds like the marketing model applied to the Curado: Improve the old model with a few new features, dramatically increase the price... Then introduce a new model with less features at the old faithful price point.skeeterboy77 wrote:Looks like im going back to Japan for my MG LEFTY WITH BEARINGS! The spinning reels look sweet though, but how does the saros compare to the previous stradic? The stradic was 119 and now it jumped to 149.95?
Re: New products-Part 1
All of the new spinning reels and CORE (Standard), Cumara will all be hitting the dealers at the end of this month. The FV version should be around October.
The Saros and up all have the Direct Drive handles that thread into the main gear.
The increase in pricing reflects directly to the features. The Cold Forged gearing, the one piece bail wire (Expensive to manufacture) the new spool, ported handles etc make the cost go up. Not to mention the worldwide increase in metal costs.
I am not sure about the differences between the JDM Stella and ours right now. I can guess that the gear ratios might differ slightly. I will check with Jeremy and get back to you on that. We might do a Q&A with him for a couple of hours after the ICAST show on this board.
Here are the weights of the new Spinning (in ounces):

Re: New products-Part 1
Darn it, the Core FV is expensive. But it sure is sexy!!!
You guys need to lower it to atleast $320.

Re: New products-Part 1
TT review said more features. what i see is higher price ,less ball bearings.wheres the "more features",,o yes,,instagageII,,,had one, don't like it,,,7:1 reels have other uses than flipping,,,and i like the color on the jdm model better, but the Core color would look good on some rods.
Re: New products-Part 1
Cumara...Over the counter warranty like the crucial?
biting my lip in anticipation but kinda doubt it

Re: New products-Part 1

Yuck, the new spinning reels, aside from the Stella are hideous!
