Different Color Brakes
Different Color Brakes
what is the difference between the Smoke color brakes and the pink brakes that come with the chronarch mg's and other reels.
Thanks
Thanks
Re: Different Color Brakes
The weights are different colored to signify the different braking actions. The smoke colored weights are lighter and offer less braking. The pink weights are a little heavier and have slightly more braking than the smoke. The next heaviest would be green then grey.
Re: Different Color Brakes
THanks Bantam I appreciate the info.
Re: Different Color Brakes
hey Bantam,
could you provide any info on brake weights in regards to shimano japan reels? i realize that the product line-up is entirely different and you have very little to do w/ the japanese reels, but i have a conquest 51 that came with yellow and blue weights.. was trying to figure out the same thing..
thx

pictured below, from left to right = lightest to heaviest braking:
some of these colors (clear & dk blue) were only supplied w/ yumeya spools i believe. not sure if there is a difference between clear & smoke ...

Re: Different Color Brakes
The chart you have above is correct for the JDM reels. The clear and smoke are the same weight.

Re: Different Color Brakes
How can I get a hold of the other color brakes to fine tune my Shimanos?
I only have the green and pinkish color ones...

The ones listed above are available in Japan only. We have the blue weights for the CT 50, the smoke, pink, green and grey here in the US for other reels. Contact our customer service department to order the weights. 877-577-0600

So for say the Curado 100D and Chronarch 50Mg I could get the smoke, pink, green, and grey...but the blue is for something else?
Re: Different Color Brakes
The small blue one pictured above is for the Calcutta 50 reel.
The larger blue weight we actually use on the Trinidad 16-30 size reels. They would be WAY too heavy for any low profile reel.
The pink is the best all around weight to use. The smoke are slightly lighter and designed for use with lighter weight lures. The green are for heavier lures or casting in higher wind conditions with lures that catch the wind more.
Buy a Calais DC then you don't need to change weights anymore

Re: Different Color Brakes
Oh I'd like to, but I think the Core is at the top of my list right now...or the Metanium, not sure
I might order some of the smoke ones...
I have the Mg casting a cranks a mile now and my Curado sending plastics out a good ways, but I'm just looking to have the possibility of fine tuning even more...
