How to remove Alphas spool tension threads
How to remove Alphas spool tension threads
The little peice that contains the threads for the knob. I want to remove the red one in an Ito Ai and replace it with a spare silver once. Trying to de-red the reel. It looks like it it two piece with an inner and outer collar. What's the removal process here?

I don't think you can remove that part, but hedgehog and some others used to sell collars to cover the visible part with a different color.

It is a speeqte part added to the reel. Whether or not I can get it out without destroying it or the side plate remains to be seen. I'll give it a go this weekend on a parts reel.

It is crimped/ press-fitted into the sideplate. It's not removable.
Try not to let your mind wander. It is much too small to be outside unsupervised.

Honestly I'm just looking to make the red threads silver or polished on my Ito Ai so maybe just stripping the anno is amd polishing the metal is better.hoohoorjoo wrote: ↑Fri Jun 10, 2022 4:02 pmIt is crimped/ press-fitted into the sideplate. It's not removable.

I'd buy one of those collars and strip/polish it instead of risking irreparable damage to the reel.
