Tatula HD 150 200 spool compatibility

Post by LowRange » Fri Nov 19, 2021 1:19 pm

Just an incomplete list of spools that fit this platform. This is for the lurkers.

This is the current 19+ Tatula HD 200 and old Tatula HD 150. This list does not include the 2019 HD 150. 2019+ 150 is the old 2014 100.

The new 200 and old 150 Tatulas are the same reel just named differently. Other names they go by are:

Coastal TWS
Fuego HD
Prorex A
16 HRF (hard rock fish)

The list of reels with spools by color and braking type that fit are:

Tatula HD 200 (black Magforce)
Tatula HD Custom 150 (silver, red or gold Magforce)
Prorex A (purple Magforce)
Coastal 200 (blue Magforce)
Fuego HD (also red Magforce)
Tatula HD 153 (black Magforce Z)
16 HRF (black Magforce Z)
200 Ray's spool (black or red Air Brake)

Thanks for this list. I have a Tatula HD and would like to get a spool with Mag Z brakes. I find the Spool that comes on the reel to be terribly overbraked for casting 3-5 glide baits baits. Could be my casting style and my really heavy rod. I have 20lb Tatsu on it. Anyway, thanks for the information.

Bass.co.jp has a lefty Tatula 153 you could nab for like $150 and then swap over your parts and sell the Franken 153. That's what I just did. Got a nice one for $130 shipped took the spool, black frame screws, red mag dial and spool tension off for parts and put spare parts and parts I didn't want to keep from my gold HD 150 Custom on the Franken HD 153 and sold it for $80 shipped. I spent like $50 net for the parts. When you could by the 153 spool it was $88 + shipping.

Also the 153 has a aluminum drag star and a shorty crank shaft with the handle bolt instead of a nut. My 153 was a lefty and I use righties or I would have nabbed those parts too.

Does the 150 spool from the black Tatula 150 fits in the 200 black model?

I want a Magforce Z spool to go in the 200 and was wondering if that is possible or need to be a 153 in this case.

You would need a 153 spool. Best bet is to nab a used 153 and then swap over all the parts and punt the 153 with 200 parts for cheap. The 153 has a number of cool parts. 153 spool, metal long arm star, black frame screws, short crank shaft and a acorn style non clicking spool tension knob

There is a stiffer spring shallow Ray's SV like spool for these. I have one and haven't fished it yet but it should hold a good amount for 20# braid. Mine is going to go into a tatula 200 7:1 that I am going to but 5:1 gears in and use the 7 speed gears in my 150 HD Custom. The new 200 can be a deep crank rog on a spare XH Veritas Which I have. Going to try deep cranking with lighter braid to get more depth. Worst case scenario it becomes a spare punching spool for the rod. Turns out these mag deep XH cranking sticks can make for decent punching sticks if you can get past the long handle. Should be a good 20# braid spool for the Coastal TWS 200 too.
