Are Revo parts interchangeable?

Are Revo parts interchangeable?

I posted this in the Reels Forum, but maybe this is a better place to get answers.

I'm asking this because, in his latest Revo review, Cal said the Revo's all share the same basic platform.
If that's so, can you swap out the spools and side plates, so you can get the IVCB6L braking on some of the other Revos?

Sometimes yes. If the platform is IDENTICAL, you can usually swap the spool and palm plates. Ive done a few.

It makes sense, but so many things that "make sense" turn out not to.
I was hoping someone here (Cal) had actually tried that swap.
