Sharpie? Maybe matching nail polish or car/model car touch up paint? Ive used all 3 before.

I considered dabbing a tiny drop of matte black enamel spray paint on it using a toothpick or something. I just want to prevent it getting any bigger without damaging the existing finish, chemically or otherwise.LgMouthGambler wrote:Sharpie? Maybe matching nail polish or car/model car touch up paint? I go around hawking the nail polish racks and discount bins for applicable colours, trying to get exact colours can be difficult but I'd rather a sealed finish than one that will allow corrosion to get under - dont forget the acids off your hands etc...
Otherwise go to your local paint shop that does automotive paints and flick through their colour fan decks - they can match a lot of colours at a reasonable cost and just use a find horse hair brush to touch up as it's finer paint than nail polish too.
And these fine nail art brushes are crazy fine / disposably cheap...

Sounds like a plan. I'll look for the car paint.Slazmo wrote:I go around hawking the nail polish racks and discount bins for applicable colours, trying to get exact colours can be difficult but I'd rather a sealed finish than one that will allow corrosion to get under - dont forget the acids off your hands etc...

Re: What to do about chipped paint?
I ended up getting a gnarly great scratch on my Stradic 1000 FJ bail arm shoulder - the screw and inner pivot post really didn't want to come undone and the plastic scuff plate between the rotor and pivot shoulder which is keyed to it ended up rounding out - so a few unsavoury words and a slipped screwdriver which was jamming the inner black post slipped - thought it went through my finger for a second after it happened...
Anyhow some pearlescent white polish and some super hard clear coat over the top and it's sealed up. Lighting and shadow does not give true looks how it came up. But I am happy with it and how the metal is protected, rather than a dirty great gash through the white and the alloy exposed.
$8 for the two nail polishes. The clear itself really does clean up minor scratches very effectively so that reels look near new - less is more, and fine edging the stroke with application helps immensely.

Re: What to do about chipped paint?
I just used some black primer spray paint and a tiny paint brush on mine. You can still see it, but you really have to look and i think it will prevent any further damage.
I've tried a few different nail polishes for painting jika weights. Some perform very well and last forever while others turn soft to where it will scrape off with my fingernail. I didn't clear coat any of them, though.

Enamel paint (small bottles) from a craft store. Find the applicator that works best for you. I like foam and sponges, made for painting. They both come in several forms. I won't even bother if anymore if it's not black. Silver is too particular, and if it's not close to perfect, it can really stand out.

Re: What to do about chipped paint?
Those fine liner nail art brushes (disposable) are a great fine application method.
I touched up my Chronarch 50 Mg till I can be bothered to find a better colour to touch up - but I've just cleared over the gun metal areas (magnesium frame) and silver over the scuffed side plates (am aware of the side plates being plastic).
Not pretty to look at the moment, but well protected for me to continue to use without worry. Simply rub off the nail polish in time and redcoat with the correct colour.
