Rocket Fuel Grease

Post by cadman » Fri Jan 25, 2019 6:59 am

Do any of you guys use this? What would be a good application for this on a baitcaster? Reason I'm asking is, I use rocket Fuel for all the bearings in my reel. This includes spool bearing, side plate bearing, cast control knob bearing, worm gear bearing and main shaft bearing. I find that my reels are noisier by doing this. Should I be using a different oil or grease on all the other bearings other than the spool bearing? If so, what do you guys recommend. Thank in advance.

Really thick oil for the frame bearings, thinner oils for spool bearings.

So what kind of "thick" oil do you recommend?

I just add two drops, instead of one, to my frame bearings. It's more to be sure there is plenty of oil, since those bearings don't spin at a high rate, but they do get the stress of fighting the fish.
I really think most reel bearing oil is fine for what we do.

High viscosity motor oil or gear oil.

My frame bearings are dipped in TSI 301. Two years and works really well. Still clean them with brake clean at end of the season and re dip.

Rocket Fuel Liquid Grease is excellent for IAR bearings.
