New member with a question

What’s a good grease for my reel? I seen a few that sound ok but wanted to get some input from here. I’m a freshwater bass fisher using Diawa baitcasters.

Super-lube is great and cheap enough in that bulk tub pictured above.
Try not to let your mind wander. It is much too small to be outside unsupervised.

For what part of your reel?

This needs to be answered first. I can't speak for everyone here, but I use different products for different parts of my reel. Oil and grease both have their spots, being particular in exact products for both.

Super Lube is good. I like Cal's drag grease for the gears too.

Super Lube is fine, but unless you're repairing reels for a living there's no need to buy a bulk tub. A 3 oz tube will last you many years. If you have a Harbor Freight nearby they carry them for about $7.00

Wait! What? You call that a bulk tub?

That's funny!

We actually buy it in the 5 gallon bucket. Kind of funny around the shop when someone is out of grease on their bench no one knows where the 5 gallon bucket is. So they raid another bench if the tech is gone. :big grin:

But yeah, I agree, get the small tube. It'll last long enough...

No you can't. Cals can be used throughout the reel as well if you want to stick to one grease total. Caps, Shimano Star, and I think there is an Okuma Cals grease available to. Don't know if there is a difference between the Cals and Okuma Cals, I would think not.

They are one is the same, I contacted Cal's a while back and asked. I also use Cal's pretty much throughout the reel where grease is required, and ZPI or Alchemy oils.

There's supposedly some newer dry film type greases that are supposed to be superior to anything we're using now, but I haven't tried them yet.
