Why wouldnt this work for Daiwa’s? Aren’t spoon pin removers universal ?

I don't really know why, just an observation about the description. Sounded kinda funny to me.Real Pudd legend wrote:Why wouldnt this work for Daiwa’s? Aren’t spoon pin removers universal ?

Have not used this tool. Is it possible the void for the spool shaft to enter is too shallow for Daiwa reels?

I have the tool and so far so good on Shimanos. I have a few daiwa reels laying around somewhere. I'll test it on them and report back later.

Maybe the spool pin is too close to the face of the spool.Real Pudd legend wrote:Why wouldnt this work for Daiwa’s? Aren’t spoon pin removers universal ?

Ran across these this week. No idea how well they work, guy in the YouTube video I watched looked like he was struggling a bit. With that said, I already bent the screw in rod on the Hedgehog I just bought. (which in all likely hood just meant I was doing something wrong)

Some spool pins are tapered (Some Abu's have them) and can only be removed/inserted in one direction. This is where a magnifier come in handy.Aquaftm45 wrote:Disclaimer: *not cheap*

Hey, $hit happens. Making mistakes is not a big deal ... repeating them over and over is ...Aquaftm45 wrote:You don't even want to know what I did...uljersey wrote:Some spool pins are tapered (Some Abu's have them) and can only be removed/inserted in one direction. I've got these Boca Pliers and rarely use them... IMO it's the "BFH" of the spool pin removal world. Useful if you've got a stuck pin due to corrosion or whatever, but for normal use I've used the HedgeHog tool with no issues and find it quick and easy. I have a couple, one is set for "removal", one set for "insertion". I'm normally not this lazy, but since I had two... why not .
