Tdz 103h spool stuck

Post by Obz » Fri Apr 13, 2018 12:53 pm

I can't get the spool out of my tdz 103h is there something I'm missing? I should just be able to remove the side plate and have it pop out right?

It takes some force to get the spool out from these reels.

The spool pin may be lodged in the pinion. Some fit a little tight, especially in alloy pinions that are worn. Also, you can have trouble removing your spool if you have too much line on your spool.

Sometimes the bearing gets stuck in the frame and it takes some force to pop it out. Pushing up on the side of the spool with both your thumbs generally gets it out.

Thumb on top and pointer finger on bottom or vice versa...and pull that sucker out. Just be sure to pull in line with the opening to not ding the spool edges.

I got one from Japan that took more force than was comfortable, but it came out. It had years of grease and pond scum caked in there.

Be sure to clean the area back to the paint and it should be.much easier moving forward.
