Curado 200 & 200B Metal Pawl Cap?

Post by Slazmo » Sat Mar 03, 2018 8:45 pm

Hi guys,

Looking for a option to change the original plastic levelwind pawl cap on these reels to a metal one - plastic ones speak for themselves as pictured. Have found some options online however non that are absolutely going to fit - and non that give model fitment - just part numbers which do not cross ref with anything here in AUS.

So rather than supplying part numbers - which will be dissimilar from US to AUS Shimano - does anyone know whether the metal pawl cap from a 50 - 200B Calcutta will fit or is their something else that someone has substituted?

**Just measured the ID of the current cap is 8mm, length of cap is 9mm - if that helps**

Appreciated in advance!

Andrew

Hi Andrew,

I routinely use the metal pawl cap where the owner is not fussed about keeping the reel original

Part BNT0151 from the Calcutta 100B up to the 700B. The Tekota series of reels also uses the same cap TGT0522.

Not sure about the baby Calcutta 50, but, the rest will work. Perfect fit !

Cheers.

Terry.

Terry - absolute bang on response!

While not wanting to stray away from the original look - more worried about it happening again in time - the metal cap is just a longer lasting stronger part - so wanting that.

Appreciated!!!

The plastic caps tend to break from overtightening. I ordered a few when I ordered an AR clutch bearing. Good to have on hand just in case. But yes, like stated, the metal caps off the bigger Calcutta series fit.

Yeh i noticed it cracked when i took the plastic cap off my latest 200, rang Shimano Aust and those metal caps are fresh out and next shipment due in May - so ordered a couple from over your way... and a $100 later for a new handle, gearset and nut cap and screw.

The cap is slightly longer than the plastic cap but will fit behind the hood just.
