I tried the T3 1016 spool and while I saw a minor improvement, I'm not getting the desired results as I feel it's still over-braked.
The DIY HLC spool?
Unless there's another model I'm not aware of, a BFS spool will NOT work for bombing 1oz crankbaits.
I can nearly spool it with a DT 16 and 10LB mono/flouro. I'm gonna try a RCS1016 which should hold more line.

SLP works shows a hlc spool for the steez, But can't seem to find one!
That is the exact spool I was asking about.
DIY has a HLC spool, This is what confused me. ;)

I'm pretty sure that the Steez HLC cool and the Steez 100 spool are very, very similar.

I think there is a little confusion going on here. HLC is a phrase coined by daiwa indicating a spool with a strong spring that is designed to throw 1/2 plus lures a long ways. They make an HLC spool for the tatula and 36MM version for thier HLC reel but should fit into any 1514 Daiwa.
To my knowledge, DIY does not make a spool with similar qualities. Don't confuse a long cast spool with an HLC type spool.

HLC = Hyper Long Cast

Mr. Lips is correct. HLC-Hyper Long Cast. Doing a little diligence on the picture provided, it does in fact show this spool on the SLP website, unfortunatly the link does not work. It's an IZE factory spool they are showing and they indicate it as a Hyper Cast Spool. (close enough to HLC). Assuming IZE made this with the heavier spring.

There is a shep in Italy who was selling a 103 w/ a Hyper Cast Spool back in 2011.
https://mercatodellospinning.forumcommu ... t=48103430

These might have came stock or sold aftermarket for the older Steez in a European/Asian market.

Here are some German (2011) and Japanese (2008) friends talking about it in a thread. Just hit translate to read.
If they made it, it has to be out there somewhere. Probobly easier to source the spring and put it in a spool as someone previously mentioned.

AS always only IZE knows for sure...

I picked up a couple of the HLC springs from JT. I suppose one of those in a steez spool is worth a trial??

Not only does a hlc spool have the strong spring.
It also has a short mag z inductor.

The steez hlc spool isn't supposed to be as good as it sounds and I bet the zpi pg would be better.
The og zillion hlc spool is where it's at with hlc spools.

So, after some unnecessary confusion, is it safe to assume that no one has used a I'ZE Factory Steez HLC Spool in a SV103 for bombing 3/4oz + crankbaits?

I just ordered the Factory Steez HLC Spool today. I'll report back my findings after I receive it and give it a test run.

As a quick follow-up, I recently received my spool and had the chance to use it over the weekend. All I can say is WOW.... this thing is a rocket launcher! This is exactly what I was looking for for bombing those big deep diving crankbaits.

I ordered an Daiwa SLP Works Deep Spool 36mm for a TD-Z100ML from buyee.jp, but when it came in it was a 34mm spoon in a 36mm package. I've started the return process but I may just hang on to it for SV of OG Steez use. It's a fixed inducter 16g with bearing, but other than that don't know much about it. Might be worth keeping, esp if they expect me to pay to ship it back.

Well looks like i am keeping it, turns out the package says NOT for 100M/100ML lol. Chalk it up to a translation issue on my end. Oh well, on the bright side I got a nice 34mm Gigas Deep Spool I can surely find a use for :o

I've never heard of that spool. Is it like an SLP version of the TD-Z Big Bait Special spool?
