Alright, got 5 hours of testing in with both spools, equal playing time. Both spooled with 8 lb P-Line Tactical fluoro. Reel was a Megabass FX68, rod was a medium light K2. Baits used -
1/8 oz Jackall Derabreak with 2.4 inch Jackall rhythm grub
Daiwa neko straight with 1/32 oz nail weight
1/16 oz wacky jig head with Flash Union flash straight 4.3"
3d brakes on all around mode. G1 1012 spool brake dial between 4 and 7. Zpi spool dial set between 8 and 11. The Zpi spool doesn't have quite the same control as the 1012, but it's closer than expected. The Zpi spool is a bit faster than the 1012. At the above settings I could cast with or against the wind with no fluff. Any lower on the brake dial and it got a little sketchy. With both spools I could cast all these baits further than I'd ever need to. With the Derabreak and Zpi spool, I'd guesstimate I was slinging it roughly 45 yards. The Zpi spool would out cast the 1012 with all these baits upwards to ten yards, give or take a bit. Both these spools are wonderful for finesse to power finesse applications. I couldn't choose one over the other, and therefore will be keeping both.
In summary, the Zpi permits a little more distance. The 1012 offers a little better control. Both are fully capable of casting the smallest and lightest of baits. I'd bet the performance would be similar in a Tdz or Steez SV TW. I don't know how nice the Zpi spool would play in an OG Steez. Probably not good considering the 1012 is rather wild in it.

Thanks for sharing. I like the zpi in my t3mx in all around mode and brakes around 8. The spool is fast. It was too fast for my og steez. You said the 1012 is wild in the og steez as well. Is this the sv1012 which is in the steez sv tw xh?

Believe the SV1012 he mentions is the 9g SLP G1 variant that HH sells.

The new NRC PG/M spools are great performers for the money. M is a bit faster due to the inductor being shallower than the PG.
Had both and tested them in a TDZ R+, tested with PLine Original 12#, mounted on an EG TKIC-SS. Used a 1/2 oz lipless and got similar distances. Brakes at 2-2.5 on the PG spool, no less than 5 or 6 on the M.
Highly recommend them in TDZ, T3, and Ryoga platforms. M will fit a CVZ, but PG will not due to the longer inductor.

Thank you everybody for all the info. Very much!

ZPI PG Gold spool is on its way from the Trap, along with a Set of ZPI bearings for my SV103 and a Zaion Drag Star to lighten it up some. Thanks Jackson!

The G1 1016sv spools.. it gets a little murky for me.

I'm seeing 4, is this right?

1. SLP works G1 1016sv
https://www.hedgehog-studio.co.jp/product/3762

2. SLP works G1 Steez 1016sv
https://www.hedgehog-studio.co.jp/product/3648

3. Zillion sv tw G1 1016 stock spool
http://tackletrap.com/index.php?main_pa ... s_id=10950

4. Steez SV TW G1 1016 stock spool
(Pictured above on Pike's first scale photo).

They aren't making it easy on us, are they?

Soooo.... Anyone had a chance to compare any of these head to head?

The ZPI will fit the Steez EX correct?
I have enough sv spools and I am not sure the SV variants are worth the price from one to anther.
I got the SV105 spool for my steez 103sha and it was good but i took an SV103ex spool and dropped into another steez and i can
barely tell the difference in performance.. yes there is a difference but was it worth the extra sixty bucks?
Now Im looking to freak this steez ex out but the purple accents must be exact with the spool

2 and 4 are the same spool. The stock Steez SV TW 1016 spool. Hedgehog just has it extremely over priced.
Number 1 is the SLP works version which weighs less due to the additional porting.

The Zpi spool will be extremely fast in the EX, and the purple will not match the purple Daiwa trim.

Thanks for clarifying, When you say fast you dont mean uncontrollable right?
Sucks that the purple doesn't match .. is there a spool that does?

Roger that. Any idea how 3 and/or 1 compare against the steez spool(2/4)?
I'm leaning towards 3, I've read nothing but good things about it. Will be dropping into an sv103(mostly for 1/8-1/2oz, with 1/4-3/8oz seeing the most use)

Depends on your skill level. For me yes, absolutely uncontrollable.

All 3 spools are really close in performance. The Zillion spool is great for the cost. Are you talking about an SS SV or Steez SV103?
Performance wise, there are slight gains, but it really depends on what you're after when talking about juice being worth the squeeze.

Right on, thanks man. Think I'll just go for the zillion spool and call it a day.
(Talking about the actual sv103,og zillion framed reel(sv103xs). Man there's so much overlap in daiwa's naming  )
