Zillion SV TW knob bearings
Zillion SV TW knob bearings
Trying to add a couple bearings under the stock knobs. No can do. The bearings will slide down on the sleeve without the knob. I put the knob, slide in the bearing and in doesn't slide the whole way down. What am I missing?
Thanks

Pics? I'm not sure I understand. Are you saying the handle posts get thicker in diameter, and the bearing won't slide all the way down?

Are there shims stuck inside the knobs you're not seeing perhaps?

I know it's difficult to see 3D but you should be able to see the bearing won't slip down far enough. I didn't have any problem with Daiwa cork

Re: Zillion SV TW knob bearings
So the inside diameter of the knobs isn't large enough? If that's the case it's a manufacturing defect I would think.
Re: Zillion SV TW knob bearings
I didn't even think about that. I have an original knob from my other SV TW but it would be strange that two defects on the same reel.Hogsticker2 wrote:So the inside diameter of the knobs isn't large enough? If that's the case it's a manufacturing defect I would think.
I'll call Daiwa on Monday on that.

Re: Zillion SV TW knob bearings
Is there a bushing in the top side of the knob perhaps? Also I've found at times you need to use tweezers to push on the bearing to get it to seat.

Tried that too.PikeRoadBassn wrote:Is there a bushing in the top side of the knob perhaps? Also I've found at times you need to use tweezers to push on the bearing to get it to seat.
BUT
I do have another stock knob from another SV TW and it has the same issue. I can only conclude the knobs are different from other Daiwa knobs. It doesn't make sense though.
Re: Zillion SV TW knob bearings
I know this is probably a dumb question but just to be certain, are you positive you have the right sized bearings. The ID would seem to be too small if it won't go down and I've always known all said as to have the same size knobs and knob posts. I'm sure you ordered or bought the correct size but maybe there's a defect or it just isn't within tolerances. I've seen several of these reels with different knobs from stock and bearings added but no one said they were different than other daiwas. I'd try some bearings and knobs off another reel if possible and make sure the ones you tried are right. If they are you could either swap the handle or if it's very close to going down maybe use some sandpaper and make the posts on the handle smaller. Good luck and please let us know what you find out

I would start the screw, pull the knob up so the boss is flush with bearing, then screw it down.
Re: Zillion SV TW knob bearings
I put bearings w/corks. Solved the problem.
