Also, the line (depends on what kind) stacked tighter would make a deep spool worse; it is lower than the level wind, so that hurts, and the smaller coils don't flow as easily. Just imagine line wrapped around a pencil versus a coke can. The line around the bigger diameter stays smooth better and doesn't maintain that "rougher" feeling. I noticed myself ruining fluorocarbon when I used to fill my entire spool up with it then try and turn it around. It worked, but the line that was wound tightly closer to the center never cast as well as that initial fill.

yes, that's true, line must suit to the diameter that it spooled. This is not issue with thin braid, which I use for lighweight lures. And yes, if there's up/down angle in level wind, that of course creates added friction. But in case of non-synchronized level wind, there's anyway angle between line and level wind .

Here is a Screenshot of Youtube video (not mine!) which shows a BFS fishing setup with a spool that's a bit heavy for lure in use. And only approx. half a spool of line:

The new 34mm DIY spools are very nice. Great build quality, quiet, and smooth rotation. Spooled my gold and black spools with 10lb X8 JBraid. The spools are very free with easy start-up and need a bit more brake than my zpi Ms.
Cast 3g spoons very far and with ease.

How's the stock bearing? Have you replaced it by a "proper" one?

^ Spool bearing seems nice, easy start-up. Haven’t changed the bearing, and rarely do so on my spools.

Those are light!

I would buy but I consider this is not so much better than Momo's. Obviously those still are better...

But now I'm waiting my ct Alphas and after that I'm waiting somebody to introduce BFS spool to it.

Quick question, I own a pair of Shimano Caius baitcasters and have been looking for a shallow spool to install on it. Surprisingly, in stock form it is capable of throwing light lures like in the 2g range. AliExpress has this 1 shallow spool for the Shimano Casitas.

My question is, do the Shimano Casitas and Shimano Caius share the same spool design? Would I be able to install this shallow spool in my Shimano Caius? The platforms look very similar. Thank you in advance!

No, but there is a spool for the Bass One which uses should work. The Casitas spool is designed to work with VBS and the brake pipe in the palming plate. The Bass One should have the same brake as the Caius and Caenan. Unfortunately the spools are out of stock on Aliexpress and may not come back. They were affordable too.
