Thank you for remembering me the fineness of UL baitcasting / BFS !
I must test that Avid what’s the casting performance of it with ~2g. But sure is that, it’s not UL rod.
I have one cheap Patriot Jig-it, which is capable of light lures. But it’s 6 feet rod and dimensioning of 2-piece grip is wrong (and because of that I don’t like it and I don’t use it). I’m planning modifications to this rod. Maybe 1’ extension of (Excel?) carbon fibre tube and whole new reel seat and grips…
Or maybe I finally begin to make my rods from blancos.
But firstly I must try that Avid with ~2g and to think that might I like this kind of fishing.

Good find!!! I hope the Zillion TWS spools come back before that reel is too old of news. Nice to see them cater to the fisherman needing deeper spools. I wonder if it is an SV style brake like the others are. I also want to know if the white ramp blocks they sell would work on the DIY spools they also sell if it broke. I know you can glue the little tabs, but I would much rather have the option to add a new working part...
Did you also see where they listed the spool works for the "2018 SV103"... I actually hope it isn't a typo and something new is coming...

Interesting. They have honeycomb porting like the Momo spools but use the Air Brake like the regular DIY spools. $55 too.

This spool weight is about 7.6g with an Air BFS bearing from HH.

The deep long cast spools for Tatula/Fuego CT are back. Not a bad way to turn a Tatula into a BFS reel for $34.

Which reels are the gen 4 and gen 3 spools compatible? I just found out the hard way that some gen 3 spools aren't compatible. The Deez IVCB spool for gen 3 Elite 7/8 does not fit the gen 3 MGX. Same diameter but the MGX spool is like 3 mil more narrow. 2011 gen 3s aren't compatable with 2013 gen 3 spools by the looks of it.
I wanted the IVCB from the MGX to convert the Elite IB7 to IVCB for the Deez spool and to use the IB7 dual brake on the MGX along with a Ray's or Momo spool for UL BFS. As it turns out I should be able to convert the IB no problem but I can't use a Ray's or the stock Elite IB spool in the MGX because they are too wide. So I just ordered a $100 Avail spool for my $100 used MGX.

Dang it!
Ain't that the way it always goes? I too had been waiting on one of these to come out and resisted buying a ZPI spool for nearly a month now. Well I bit the bullet and ordered a ZPI spool that is currently being shipped and now Rays comes out with one...
LOL Oh well....guess I'll have to get one of these too

MGX Is in the same as the LGX-ALT series. Not compatible with the SX-STX-PRM. As you found the MGX has a narrow width spool. This chart is a good assist in spool selection.

So It's the 33 X 27.3 spools that are compatible with 4th gen reels?
