Got mine off eBay and I am pretty pleased upon visual inspection. Will spool it up and pitch around the house tomorrow.

did you keep the stock bearing of the spool or replaced it by another pair?RMCatchNrelease wrote:Got mine off eBay and I am pretty pleased upon visual inspection. Will spool it up and pitch around the house tomorrow.

waiting for the blue spool for my Ryoga1016 is so painful. why did people have to buy the color i wanted!? If these spools are as good as they look, what's the point of spending 5x more
Too bad its like -27C* in canada and i wouldn't be able to try the spool even when i receive it.

It's nice to have that budget option for upgrades, wonder if Daiwa will take notice and adjust their prices...silversix wrote:waiting for the blue spool for my Ryoga1016 is so painful. why did people have to buy the color i wanted!? The spool spins like its unbalanced and the bearing makes quiet the noise. Other wise the built quality is really clean.

Got a chance to play around with the TD-Z variant this morning during a conference call haha.
I must say I am please with the finesse pitching ability. I spooled up with #6 trilene mono. Tied on a size 1 light wire wacky hook with 1/16oz weight.
I added roughly 1.75" piece of zoom stick bait. Total weight was near 1/8oz most likely. Pitching was easy and getting 13-18 yards easily. Very controlled and did not lash. Had spool tension 3-4 clicks past no side to side with brakes at 8. Got better distance with looser settings but was also getting fluffy.
I tried an even lighter configuration and was also successful. Distance was down to 10-12 yards but I think I could get better. Problem is had was the light bait getting too airborne. Spool tension had to be backed off a few clicks but brakes remained at 8.
All in all very impressed. Guys like Teal101 with a better thumb can probably get better results. My goal is acceptable distance and stupid easy thumbing.
Does it have air brake? The rotor turn about a quarter turn or so. Much more than stock spool.
Thanks
