custom drag washers

Post by Ry24000 » Mon Nov 30, 2015 5:38 am

I have been looking for washers for my old Cardinals and I might have to make my own. cutting round washers seems easy, but mine have a rounded rectangle in the center. Any thoughts? I considered an exacto knife for the center and using the old one for a template. or is there a better way?

That's what I do. I use a combination of scissors, Exacto knife, drill and drill bit, and a jewelers file to finish off. I buy Carbontex by the sheets in various thicknesses.

Thanks for the reply! I was watching a utube video and the guy was using a compass type tool to cut the circles. I think ill do the same for the outer dimension, then cut the circle part of the rounded rectangle with the caliper/ compass tool. Exacto the straight parts.

I have a full sheet of Carbontex and was considering a CNC to cut many for the Cardinal 4 reel. Maybe some other people would like some to?

A CNC would be great if I had access to one.

went there and she said I would have to make them. They have to have a glass core with carbon outside for the torque created when they spin. I have the material. I am going to try a friends CNC laser to see if that works.
